Born and raised in Quito, Ecuador, Carlos Mena comes from a family of musicians. Now living in New York City, he has become part of this thriving music community.  Known for his flexibility to adapt to different music styles and tasteful playing he has been involved in several projects in different genres such as Jazz, Afro-Latin, Pop, Funk, and Classical music.

Carlos Mena has appeared on stages such as: Lincoln Center, Dizzy's Coca-Cola, The Kennedy Center Washington D.C., Madison Square Garden, Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, United Center Arena in Chicago, Guitar Center L.A., Staples Center L.A, The Bitter End, Zinc Bar and more.

He is also the house bass player at

Currently Carlos is working on putting together his music, which is inspired by humanity and how different but similar we all are, as reflected in the mixture of various styles, sonorities and instrumentations.

Carlos Mena finished his bachelor in Music and Pedagogy at the (Hochschule der KuensteUniversity of Arts in Zurich and was a recipient of the Elsy Meyer Stiftung Scholarship for Outstanding Students.

In 2010 Carlos received his Master in Music Performance at the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York City studying with Professors: Michael Mossman, Antonio Hart, David Berkman and Johannes Weidenmueller.
